Re: Two wiring harnesses in engine bay??? 700 86

Hi Ron. I just replaced (well, actually repaired) the engine wiring harness in my 86 740 Turbo. I had the same problem with the wires leading into the firewall. The only think I could think of to do was pull the connector apart and put heat-shrink tubing on each wire, somehow labelling the wires so you know where they go in the connector. You might be able to get that part of the harness from a salvage yard and splice it on inside the car, but other than that, I don't know what to do. Volvo probably sells the harness that goes through the firewall, but I have no idea on price. Let me know if you find a better solution as I may do the same on mine.

Were you able to replace the wires going from the main harness to the back of the distributor and knock sensor? I think that harness also goes through the firewall with no connector between the engine and the firewall, and my wires were bad in that area as well.

Greg
