When driving with the 3rd speed on, it rarely makes noise (but always on sharp turns). With the 4th speed, the only noise is the very fast air flow. I would assume that the higher speed will wear out the motor faster, so I just use the 3rd speed. I think the motor has made a squealing noise a few times, but it's almost always quiet with respect to bearing-type noises when the 3rd speed is in use. My blower motor is definitely worn, so I'll be glad if I make it through winter.
