I wouldn't expect to pay that kind of money for what needs to be done. You basically replace the radio and using the old connectors splice into the existing wires usually with a connector kit that comes with the radio. The old amplifier is just bypassed.

I would get a second installer to give a price for the service- the estimate you got is out of line.
