loud valvetrain 700 1985

I just finished the rebuild of my 85 744ti and the valvetrain seems about twice as loud as before the rebuild. Of course I checked oil levels and everything. I took my time on the rebuild and had my father help me(he knows what he's doing). Is this normal after having the head apart? I know the valve tip seals pack things in tight, maybe after they wear in it will quiet down? Also I had some headwork done, namely a valve job. Now I know that when I adjusted the valves I had to compensate for the ground valves sitting lower in the seats. I had to use pucks on the low end of the range to get right clearance. Maybe I didn't get the clearances right. Would it be noisy if I had it set up to tight or loose clearance wise? I hope someone has some experience with this. I know I did everything right but it is my first rebuild and I am sooooo anxious about anything and everything.

Thanks
