If this happened to me I'd pull the switch.

You know the electrical part is removable by two (slotted I think) screws holding it to the lock mechanism. Inside it operates the ignition, start, accessory and key-in switches separately by a pair of plastic cams -- this is not a rotary "selector" switch with moving armature.

My guess is there is a distortion of contact or cam caused by heat brought on by contact resistance.
