How to diagnose a bad shock! 700 700

My car pulls pretty bad to one side (765Ti). If I were to let go off the steering wheel the wheel will uncenter it self by about a 1/4 inch and steer toward the right. I tried to get an alignment but it didn't really do much. Is there an easy test to determine if the shock is smoked? Are there any other symptoms of a bad shock(struts in front, shocks in rear, right?)?
