advice on father-in-law's V90 no-start 900 92

Hi guys. I have a question. I took my father-in-law to the body shop to pick up his 97? V90, due to a very minor door scratch being fixed. The shop owner drove the car up to the doorway and shut her down. I inspected the repair, shook hands with my father-in-law and took off down the road. After getting home, he calls and says the V90 won't start. They tested the battery and all was fine. He's got power to everything, but nothing to the starter - and the car is in park - so that rules out the 'DUH' factor. One guy even schmacked on the starter motor a few times with a hammer (ouch), nothing. I didn't get a chance to inspect it myself, as the shop closed down by they time I could return. Before I go down there tomorrow with my tools in tow, I thought maybe someone could offer a few words of wisdom on the V90 - for I am just a content driver of a reliable 940 mule. Thanks much!
