Re: 940 Parking Light Lens 900 94

For what it's worth...

This design permits easy removal/install of the lens assembly. When I bought my 960 at 90k miles, the edge of the white tab that locks to the frame was a little worn, making removal/installation a little too easy. The lens left me unexpectedly on I75 at about 80mph when I hit a bump. I never saw it again.

A design that involves a cap screw or stud with a lock nut would not have allowed this to happen. I bought a replacement lens at Matt's Lens (web site reference somewhere on this site, I think) and drilled a quarter inch hole in both the white tab of the lens and in the frame of the car, making sure the holes lined up when the lens was installed. I put a plastic tie wrap through both holes when I installed the replacement lens, and still have it with me to this day.

Good luck with your replacement.
