The first picture below shows an OD relay before resoldering. The cracked connections are barely visible in the picture, but were more visible to the eye. You can see them under a bright light (sunlight) using a magnifying glass.

The second picture shows the same relay after resoldering -- it worked very well after this repair. In addition, a small section of burned foil was repaired, which is the pink wire at the top.

The third picture shows the burned trace. This is caused by a short circuit -- the wire going to the solenoid chafes through and the conductor randomly touches ground. Usually this will blow the fuse, but sometimes the relay burns instead.
