Generator Warning Light Trigger 900 94

Does the generator warning light require the alternator to actually spin?

I was driving down the highway earlier this week and first received an ABS warning light, then an SRS warning light, and then the car starting stumbling. I pulled over, the engine was losing revs, the oil light came on as it fought to keep running. The horn stopped working, but the power windows rolled down. I thought it was going to be an expensive repair.

What do you think happened? Turns out the alternator tensioning bolt snapped. I guess the pivot bolt had been loose since I bought the car. The alternator pivoted down and the drive belt lost all tension. I bougnt a replacement 6mm bolt at the hardware store and it works good as new.

I was wondering why I didn't get a generator warning light or a battery light. The battery ended up becoming completely drained.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why the generator light and the battery light didn't come on?

Thanks.
