Senior Moment Transmission 200 1986

I just bought a 240 sedan automatic. Everything is fine and exactly what I bargained for except the tranny has some senior moments. It forgets to go! For 2-3 seconds it feels like it's in neutral. This happens radomly and isn't serious but I'm wondering if changing the fluid might just help? It shifts smoothly in all other conditions but forgets to go sometimes.
