Weird electrical fault... 200 1992

My most recent gremlin-of-the-week is definitely a strange one: intermittently, when I step on the brake, all my lights shut down. They usually come back on when I release, but not always.

This includes all my dash lights, shiftlock mechanism, brake lights, signals, everything--except the car still runs fine. Oh, and the 'key's in and door's open' chime sounds while this happens. The other night the condition stayed for a few minutes, so I pulled over and managed to poke/rotate my fuses to see if the problems was there, but no avail.

It seems to have gotten worse, as occasionally before this, I'd notice a brown out (dimming of headlights and dash lights) when I'd step on the brake. I replaced the brushes on my alternator last year.

Any ideas on where to start? No fuses blow when this happens.

Thanks,

Chris Breitner
