You would want a direct fit cat with the support mount to the engine block to avoid carrying the weight of the cat at the turbo/cat joint.

The one you are replacing could be the original, so they last, if you keep turbo oil out of them.

Late 84's were fitted with IC's so that does not necessarily mean any enhancement was done on this car.

I doubt it is a new type manifold. I might take (have taken) a turbo if it were silver, not rust, had little or no play in the output shaft, or had a Garrett rebuild tag (green or red). I would not take a rusty, sloppy possibly original turbo.

I doubt the Mitsu turbo can be easily fitted but it probably can be fitted. Not sure.
