Re: M47 lubrication 200 86

James -- I just this fall got a 'new' 87 with the M47. The body was clean, but I was really worried about the integrity of the M47. It seemed very quiet (less noisy than either of my two M46s), so after I bought the car, I dumped the trans fluid and jacked the driver's side of the car up and was able to get a full two quarts of fluid in before it began to run out. I used Redline MTL. I suggest you consider a synthetic for your M47 -- you're only using two quarts, and it's not like you change it out every 3000 miles, so I think it's a justifiable expense.
