general questions 200 1988

i have a few general questions that i am positive have been asked before but i cannot locate any of them. to get things started, i have an '88 244dl.

i want to make sure that i'm getting optimum gas mileage so, this weekend i'm gonna 'do some things' to the car. i'm gonna pull the throttle body and clean it (i have received a nice step-by-step picture of removing this) but, is there any unforseen trouble or cautions i need to be aware of?? (dumb question following)do i need to bother replacing what looks like a gasket between the manifold and throttle-body?? if so, as long as it's a gasket, does it matter where i get it from??

i want to change the o2 sensor (not getting any bad reads or feeling like it is bad) and have the knowledge that it is new. what price can i expect to pay and what different makers besides volvo oem can i use??

anything else i should check, clean or replace while i'm at it (keep in mind that my tool box consists of a hammer and flat-head screwdriver <> and not a hnd-held computer doo-dad)??

i'm also collecting web sites for parts (new and used). besides the obvious one listed on this board, what others are out there for deals that just can't be beat??

thanks for all the info,

roger
