Re: steering rack change problems 200 1982

Hello,

I picked up the 27mm socket this morning. Steering wheel came off without a problem. Im back in business!

For discussion sakes though, I dont believe it was possible for everything to line up properly, without changing something. The rack was not the original equipment. It came from a later model car, and regardless of which way I look at it , the steering wheel is upside down whenever the wheels are straight ahead. Perhaps Im missing something, but I think the rack was designed for a slightly different environment?

My hats off to volvo though. Even with some of the difficulties, there car is still the easiest to work on. I get the feeling that "real" people made this car, for real people.

Last month I put a rack on a ford escort. It two days to get it out. Two days to get it in again. The volvo was out and back in again in about 2 hours!

Thanks
