bearing area on B20 140-160 1968



I've read that the B18/B20 has more bearing area than a chevy big

block. This may explain why these motors are somewhat hardy.

My question is -- what happens if you grind off some of the bearing

area so that there is less surface in contact with the crank? Less

friction / more wear? Would this produce a motor that only goes

400,000 miles before it needs bottom end work in stead of 800,000 miles?

Are there any advantages to doing this?
