Re: selecting an alternator 200 1987

Most of the time the regulator is all that is wrong with the alternator.

This is a part that you can buy separately. Turbo 240s came with 55 amp

alternators stock for some reason. When Volvo went to electronic injection

here in the US around 83 they used a 70 amp on those cars. Somewhere in

the late 80s they upgraded to 80 amp and my mothers 1990 245 has a 90

amp unit on it. I've upgraded my turbos to the 70 amp units. Make sure that

you get at least a 70 amp unit for your 87. I think thats whats original

for your car.
