I just drain the cooling system using the drain on the side of the engine block. I use a 5 foot long piece of hose that fits the barbed end of the drain, snake the other end of the hose under the car and into a bucket by the side of the car, open up the drain with an open end or box wrench and proceed to save the coolant into the bucket.
