Actually age in years is probably more of a factor than miles at this point. There are 10 rubber bushings in the rear end control arms and rods alone. Volvo has penchant for voided bushings, which have a shorter life, especially if you're in a high smog area. The trailing arm and torque reaction rod bushings are the most likely to cause a clunking sound. Get the car in front of someone who knows Volvo's or an experienced suspension specialist, not a muffler or a brake shop. They don't know squat.
