when you first start up, the O2 sensor has no effect on engine performance. It does not kick in until it gets hot enough and the engine is hot enough for the computer to begin to specifically control the engine. It sounds like you have a small vacuum leak. Check the vacuum hoses, the intake manifold gasket and the O-rings for the injectors.
