alternator bracket for D-24T 700 1987

I've been rebuilding my old Turbo Diesel Engine from an elderly 740 estate but it's so long ago that I dismantled things I've forgotten how they go back! (I've learned a lot of lessons along the way) Having done a complete regring/rebore/skim things are almost complete but I'm struggling trying to fit the alternator and the steering pump. I have a bracket about 12 inches long with 3 mounting holes but there are no matching holes on the block and I've spent hours playing jigsaw puzzles trying to get it to fit. This model is quite rare over here and I don't know any other owners who will let me see how theirs is fitted. Can anybody out there PLEASE help by sending me a sketch of how to reassemble it before I send for the little men in white coats to come and take me away?

I'm based in the UK and have a fax number too. It is 01858 535343. Thanks a million. Bruce Kirkman.
