Re: Mystery Hose 200 1986

Thank you to all who responded!

In response to Don’s question, yes, the car does have cruise control. When I first ran across the hose, I thought so as well because my cruise control does not work. However, both of the hoses running from the vacuum pump are connected. What is routing for the cruise control vacuum lines?

As for hearing vacuum leaks when the engine is at idle, this may sound stupid, but the engine is so loud so I really cannot hear anything. It is only when I turn the engine off, I can hear a ‘hiss’ coming from approximately where the hose is broken off. Actually, the hissing sound will last 5-10 minutes after I turn off the motor. It will gradually go away. It will not suddenly stop.

In response to Simon’s post, I actually like this idea, but the heater controls work. Actually, this is the part that has me…tracing the hose. It seems to go behind the oil separator. To find where it goes from there I would have to remove the intake manifold and for me this not an afternoon job!! I have a more detailed picture that I will upload. The hose diameter itself is approximately .5cm with the interior width perhaps 75% of this.

Don, you do sound like my English professor..."Inquiring mind want to know" It just sounds like something that he would say. Actually, the picture is on an Indiana University/Purdue University Server. When I came to the US to study, they did give me an E-mail address, but since I have used German address for quite some time and I am quite comfortable with it, so I use that one instead.
