I noticed one of the cables from the battery of my '87 240 ran right along the air intake hose (the one with the ridges, don't know the exact name) and the first layer of insulation had been worn through. All I did was cut off a section of rubber tubing I had in my garage, sliced it lengthwise on one side, and wrapped it around the battery cable to protect it from rubbing through.
