As for the tranny fluids, the best answer that I have ever heard was that the Type F has a higher boiling point than the Dextron/Mercon. Fords typicaly use this type of fluid because they have trouble keeping the fluid cool enough so it doesn't boil over. Once it boils you have bubbles, bubbles mean air, air means A/T not happy. The majority of car companies use the Dex/Merc. I have heard this from a few guys who drag raced and noticed that when they ran the Type F and pulled out the dipstick there were a lot less bubbles in the fluid. As for any negatives in using Type F in a car that calls for Dex/Merc, none that I know of. Anyone??
