INSTRUMENT LIGHTS REVISITED 200 84

My AW71 OD relay is acting up (seems to be a rash of this lately on this board -- winter weather?). OD Light comes on again/off again but the operation of the OD itself is OK. Pulled the relay, took it apart and the printed circuit has dark spots on it (burned). Will try solder/and or a new relay which should fix.

What is really puzzling is in the midst of all of this, the dash instrument lights now do not work. The dash warning lights (brake, oil, high beam, voltage etc) continue to work, but ALL of the gauge lights and console lights are now in-op (including the shifter cluster).

Fuses are OK. All the instruments work, just the lights are out. Either:

1) I inadvertantly disconnected or damaged some wiring when I had the console pulled away to replug a small lamp or

2) The dash lights are related somehow to the OD relay.

When the OD Relay starts acting up I do notice the dash warning lights start to malfunction as well. When ignition on/engine off The OD light will come on and some of the warning lights will go out.

Strange. Any ideas? I dont think its the wiring harness because it is only a few years old (replaced due to original rot in 1996).

Thanks, Robert
