Re: Volvo manuals 700 91

Ya, Jim was right on with the URL. I ordered my from Kencook. Download their document index (http://www.kencook.com/vcna/vpi0900.zip), then find out what you want, and most importantly what you can afford - ka-ching! It's easy to run up a bill. They had an order form as part of the index, which totals everything up, then fax it in. I think the complete "dealer" set for my 240 was about US$4000!

My manuals came in 4 partial shipments. Most manuals are printed in the good ol' USA, so availability isn't that much of a problem. One of the manuals I ordered - TP 32394/1 Engine Management - is still printed in Sweden, and was back ordered for about 4 months. Plus the fact the manuals were just left on my doorstep. Good thing nobody boosted them - I would have been royally pissed.

Other than that I'm pleased. Their wiring diagram manual is the best I've ever seen. 136 pages of detail drawings, broken down by subsystem. Well worth the price of admission.

Some of the pictures are quite dark, like somebody has photocopied a photocopy of a photocopy, with the darkness cranked way up the whole time, but usually you can get the point. The manuals are updated by getting a sheet of little stickers you put over top the old text in the manual. However, I haven't found a binder yet to fit the damn holes they punched in the manuals. You could always order the "Volvo" binder - ka-ching.

I fear the end of the printed manual is nearing the end. Volvo wants to sell annual 'subscriptions' for web-based documents for their new line of cars, including additional fees for each subcategory above and beyond the access fee. Maybe that's the Ford way...

Enjoy.
