thanks for the quick method!

but it's too late.

I decided to go with a magnetic reed switch, and bypass the gearbox switch.

it seems to be working fine (made it home in the cold), and I kept

smacking the shift lever (with the clutch disengaged) to test it's

safty. I think I was able to do a nice clean simple job of it, less

than 20 minutes that's for sure. and the nature of the reed switch

should insure that it never fails again. (my fear in simply replacing

the switch)

I'll be sure to post again if I have any more trouble.
