fifth gear sluggish going into fifth 700 1986

I have a 1986 740 volvo turbo with a manual 4 speed transmission and an electronic fifth gear... in as you have to push a button on the shifter. When I shift it into fifth gear it is sluggish getting into gear. Once it's in it holds fine, but sometimes it takes about 5 to 10 secs getting there. Is there an adjustment, or a screen that needs to be cleaned? and is it easy to do or is this something that volvo needs to do?... also is the fluid level of the "fifth" gear seperate from the fluid level of the manual part of the transmission?.... any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Pete.
