Use two — install 'em finger tight in diagonally opposite corners of the block and drop on the head. Install several head bolts adjacent to the alignment bolts, and then remove the alignment bolts.

Their only purpose is to align the head with the block as you install it, and two will do it. Once two head bolts are installed the alignment pins are unnecessary.

When I made mine, I found it very helpful to taper the tops (where I first ground off the bolt heads), and then used a hacksaw to cut screwdriver slots.
