Cold Start Flooding Problems 200 '86

Hi All,

I am having trouble with my '86 245 with 167,00 miles. When it is cold it will start and immediately flood and then die. After this happens the only way to start it is to take the plugs out and dry them off etc...

If I start it with the pedal down I can catch it and it runs very roughly and pumps lots of black smoke. After about 10 seconds it settles down and runs fine. As long as it does not get too cold it starts and runs fine. There is some threshold temperature that once it drops below this problems starts. It seems to be around 35-40F.

I live in Nebraska and I am guessing that we won't see 35 or 40 for another 4 or 5 months. The cap, wires, rotor, plugs are all good.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thanks,

Dave
