Hi all,
This is my first post to the list. I've enjoyed reading the digests and now I hope I can make use of your collective insights.
I have a few annoying problems with my 940 and questions about each are posted below.
1. When my mechanic replace the radius rod bushes about 6 months ago ever since there has been an annoying squeak which is definitely coming from the right hand (drivers) side of the car. It is most noticeable under brakes. If I bounce the car on that side I can hear rubber to metal creaking coming from the upper strut bush or bearing and in the vicinity of the radius rod to control arm bush. I've tried some silicone spray a couple of time and it made no difference. The squeak I hear while driving does sound like something is loose but I can't pinpoint.
2. Do Volvo's with ABS naturally have a slightly soft feel in the pedal? I recently replace the front calipers and hoses on my 940 and had the brakes pressure bled but the soft feeling is still there. the brakes themselves seem to operate fine though.
3. Occasionally all the right hand side speakers on the stereo will fade out when playing a tape. If I eject the tape then put it in again the problem corrects itself. I've tried cleaning the heads but to no avail.
This problem only occurs with a tape and not the radio. The car has the factory Graphic Equalizer by the way.
4. I noticed a couple days ago that someone wrote about cleaning the idle air valve to fix a rough idle problem. Could someone provide some instructions on this? Please?
Thanks all. Sorry about the long post
