Tail-light Problem ('94 Wagon) 900

Here are the thoughts I sent off list to Spook. I think my musings are similar to what I've seen Bill and Dave suggest in a previous thread.

"Sounds like a "puzzlah" from the Click and Clack era. If there were this short circuit, would not the brake light be on when the parking/running lamps were lit? I only know the 240 circuitry, and I feel like Dave Stevens or someone with a 9 series car believes the bulb failure relay is different. There are so many variables; those who have converted to LEDs, those who have trailer lighting converters, not to mention those who have modified what Volvo provided -- not that I would suspect that you have, but perhaps a previous owner."

"In a 240, that dual filament bulb lights as bright as it can always when the headlights are on and the brake is used. The left and right parking lamps (running lamps) are separately fused. When you say the "parking" light does not work, do you mean night driving leaves one tail lamp dark on the left side? The reason I ask is I understand that parking and running lamps are separately controlled in Europe so that one parking lamp can be left burning all night on the street side of the car in cities with narrow streets. That explains the separate fusing left and right in our 240s."

By the way, I'm Art a 240 guy, not B.B.
