93 240 OEM Hitch Install 200 1993

Over the weekend, I finally found enough hours and sunlight to refinish and install a used Volvo hitch on the 240 wagon. I found the hitch at a PNW salvager (no rust!), and downloaded the Volvo instructions (it was a while ago, and don't recall where I found it).

Overall, a fairly easy job. A few notes:

- The heat shield above the muffler had to be pulled out, and modified to fit the narrower width with the hitch mounting plates. The instructions only said it needed to be bent out of the way and then bent back into place. Yeah, not so easy, and then the mounting holes did not line up.

- I needed new bolts to mount the heat shield over the hitch plate. The ones I pulled out were suddenly to short.

- Getting the right cutouts through the lower valence was tough. I used the template in the instructions, but I'm not sure they were full size, so it took a lot of trimming to get it right.

Here are some pics: 93 240 OEM Hitch Installation

It will be mainly used for a bike rack, but I expect to tow a small trailer once I find and install the wiring.
