Hi
I’m not to well informed about this subject but I was thinking there is a height difference of the rear portion. Like Art said the bottoms cushion stays the same.
The Wagonmeister Volvo refurbisher site sells cushions on the side so he might make references to what years they fit there.
I have a 78 and an 84 models. Beware that Volvo makes ever so slight changes and mid stream as all car manufacturers do!
The 1978 has the push button release but not the 1984 model as it cranks like all other models made forward. I have never seen a 1983 to know what you have.
Somewhere I think I noticed that the 1984 back was shorter in overall height than the 1986 wagon seat by about two inches. I believe the 1978 was the same height as the 1984 despite holding devices.
I noticed this by just looking at the window rail heights in relation to the seat backs tops from car to car.
But now, it’s also a wagon with a Naugahyde fabric with padded fabric backing/stitching as a filler. Somewhat different quality procedure over a cloth cover or even leather offerings.
I’m not where my 1984 is, so, I cannot just go out and look at these to compare. Sorry.
So with that I’m thinking the push button release to the crank seats it was by 1986 there was this two inch change.up higher. The head rests change shapes too through all of this too.
So you may have some other minor things going on that are hard to see right off with those covers ‘90 covers fitting the on the 1983.
I hope I’m confused but I wanted you to check it out and set me straight. If I’m right you might not see it until you pull one over the it and then see the extra length.
I also don’t know if the foams shapes moved around any.
This could turn into a rather informative thread from all the seats in Volvos right down to seat rails underneath.
Phil EDIT … I just posted and I see I’m not the only one. I feel relieved.(:-)
