B30 engine issues? 140-160

Hello,

The B30s are basically a B20 with 2 extra cylinders and there are a lot of interchangeable parts like pistons, rods, lifters, distributor drive gears and more and they can be just as reliable as the B20s and the cars that they came in.

However, the 164s and the B30 engines do use some parts that are exclusively for the 164 and since Volvo made far fewer 164s, some parts are hard to find or are more expensive.

For example, the 164 upper control arm bushings were originally only available through Volvo as no one made them in the aftermarket and Volvo discontinued them many years ago. Reproduction upper control arm bushings for the 164 are now available, but a new set of 4 bushings cost over $700.00.
