I'm eyeing parts for a head gasket replacement on a 1998 V90. A Victor Reinz gasket set + 14 bolts of same brand from FCP runs about $146, I suppose I can use regular permatex anti-seize (aluminum based, good to 1600 deg F) on the bolts, so don't need a more expensive packaged set of bolts with the grease. There's a less expensive AJUSA gasket set out there (FCP, or even less at rockauto.com), I wonder if it's worth trying to save a few dollars here or just go for the "bigger name" Reinz set. I already have a complete timing belt kit (was going to change it, as well as the water pump that is just starting to leak) and I also want to replace the front and rear cam seals (4) and one front crank seal if I can. Any other parts I should stock on? I got a PDF copy of a Volvo TP31804/1 manual (B6304 reconditioning), if someone could point me to where I could locate TP31714/2 (sadly missing from my collection and no longer in print) I would appreciate that. Planning to get a CTA-2247 crank holding tool for the front crank seal and an aftermarket "Camshaft Engine Alignment Timing Tool Kit" off ebay. Given that the car was running OK just starting to have some leakage symptoms (see my previous thread) wonder if it would be worth the time and effort to have the head checked at a machine shop. I'd be tempted to just clean things well and put everything together again.
