240 Exhaust header pipe removal 200 1989

I've never had to remove a manifold to take the three flange nuts. A long extension from below has always worked. I have come across finding a 17mm nut in place of the factory 15mm nut which can make getting a socket on a little difficult. A 17mm nut on a 10mm stud is very common---15mm nut not so much. BMW also uses 15mm nuts on their 10mm exhaust studs--same thread pitch as Volvo.
If the original poster has access to heat (oxy-aceteline) getting the nut cherry red and using a box wrench or 3/8 drive socket should be able to loosen it. -- Dave
