Thanks very much for your reply and photo, yes that's the same wire.

The red light did indeed turn out to be the brake circuit indicator, the sensor was needing replaced.

Thanks for the tip on the Haynes red manual. Have you by any chance found a good source of wiring diagram for this model? The haynes is a very poor and so small I can't read it properly.
