Differential Whine - Options? 200

I've never had a diff Whine or Scream. Had Rumbles and worse crunching noises.

In a Volvo, 75, at 90K started to hear a rumble...mechanic told me it could be bad or it could go for a long time. The car rusted out and cracked a valve at 289K, but the diff never gave me a problem. Did change the rear fluid every 10K tho.

In a BMW, back when it was "cheap" to have it serviced, as in check the rear oil, change the real oil....well...turned out the "garage" never check nor changed the rear and it ran dry. But it never whined...It was a 4:11 rear to. the replacement just didn't have the get up and go.

FWIW Change the Rear Fluid to something Syntheic...Like Redline....Pay attention to the Magnet on the drain plug. IF it's not clogged with metal shavings???

How about rear wheel bearings?
