Lack of and loss of heat 900 2004

When you have no heat, stop the car and feel the two pipes going into and out of the bulkhead (firewall) If both are warm then the matrix is getting coolant. If one is cold and the top is warm, then you might have an intermittant blockage, or the valve might be faulty. If the pipes are good and the matrix is clear and its cold in the car, then it might be that the venting has failed in some way, routing the hot air away.Check the movement of the shutters behindthe dash. To check the valve yOu can get down intothe footwell (passenger side on a US car) and I think you can see the valve operating when someone works the heater controls. After about 16 years the matrices fail anyway, as I know to my cost with both a 700 and 900 series car...its a process of elimination which is not much fun but don't give up!
