Well, we all jump to the wrong conclusion, do we? Yeah a definite possibility, but consider this:

"i was given an estimate of $500, the final bill came to well over a $1000. being 2000 miles from home i was unable to come up with the additional $500 and felt i had been taken advantage of being as far away as i was.
this the first communication i have had from anyone concerning this..."

Let's see, you knew what the final bill was and some 5 YEARS LATER have apparently done nothing to settle your debt. Hmmm, hmmm, yep we all might have jumped to the wrong conclusion, but then again...
