Side Window Guide Channel Replacement 1800

Hi there,

A 1970 P1800E. I would like to replace the door window felt/rubber guide channels.

There are two of them (one for each end of the window) in each door - they fit inside the vertical metal channel that guides the up and down motion of the window. The originals have nearly disintegrated.

I have pulled off the inside door panels to see the inside of the door - it looks like the only way to replace the felt/rubber is to remove the metal guide channels out of the door then replace the felt/rubber on the bench, but I am not sure how to remove them without everything falling apart inside (like the window crank mechanism).

It is probably pretty difficult to explain how to do it (given the number of screws) but I thought I would ask before a mysterious spring accidentally goes flying as I dig around in there in ignorance.

Thanks all

waggin
