This is my approach. Even wearing non-insulated mechanic's gloves will give me that much more time to work on it. But when you can't feel your fingertips and have to work with small parts, it's time to head inside. And then there's the smashing of a knuckle when your hands are frigid. extra ouch, extra cursing.
