How many variations of tire jacks were used during the 122 years?

Does any one model work better than others for actual jack use?

I have two. Both are marked NIKE on top, and on front: NIKE, ESKILSTUNA, SWEDEN

#1 is marked IFB, stands 22 1/2" tall, has cast lift arm and is green.
#2 is marked LFE, stands 18 1/2" tall, has stamped lift arm and is black.

Were there other models?
How do you maintain them (oil the screw)?

Does modern 240 type scissor jack work better, perhaps without marring paint?
