Others seem to have you pretty well covered on the ignition issue...

Regarding the wipers though.. I'd say there's a good chance the motor isn't bad.. in my case, I had one of the bolts that holds the motor in fall out and get jammed in the linkage, causing the motor to overheat. Since that happened in the 'non-park' position of the wipers, I couldn't just turn them off... they kept trying to park until the smoke escaped.. I unplugged the motor at the switch...

Upon finding the culprit and fixing it, that motor was still fine.
