Progress report - All fuels are not created equally 120-130

I switched my brand of gasoline; from Chevron Premium to Shell Premium.

The lean idle situation has improved noticeably with Shell gas; the engine goes into lean idle mode less frequently, and when it does it clears up more quickly.

The car runs better in general with Shell gas; it feels like the Shell gas is a higher octane than the Chevron; acceleration is better.

I'm currently adapting my 140 series airbox to the Mikunis. It will have extensive heat shields added to it to protect the bottom of the carbs from exhaust manifold heat, and will pull in cold air from the bottom of the engine bay.

I'll let everyone know how it works.

No word from John Parker yet; I emailed him last Sunday.

Bill
