Tailgate wiper is weak!!

So my tailgate wiper is virtually stopped. It happened when the rear fluid pump broke. The wiper motor continued to work, but very, very slow. I retrofitted a generic Anco pump which was 1/3 the price and the fluid works fine. Now I have to diagnose what is wrong with the motor itself. Could it be a bad ground, loose fit or do the pumps just "fail" easily? I say easily when in actuality it probably has 245,000 miles worth of wipes on it. Can anyone help on this subject?
BTW, I replaced the right latch wiring harness recently, so that isn't an issue, unless it's "pinched" somewhere in there.
