Light out indicator / Shifter release button 700

I have a "light out indicator that light up when I pull in the lock button on the shifter in park. When pulled into gear it stays on. Put in park release button and it goes out. Have changed light out relay already. I hear a faint relay click when button is pulled but can't find it. What does that button do besides unlock the shifter
