Other than yard machines my 2 stroke experience is limited to a couple of Saab 96's.

I drove one as a daily driver for years back in the 1990's. Fun little car that actually got lots of compliments from women as being "the cutest car" they had ever seen. It was more fun than a Flexible Flyer in snow.

Having said that I have to ask why you are interested in a conversion?

The Saab (1967)did not get great mileage (24-25?) and then there was the cost of the 2 cycle oil added at a rate of 1 quart to 8 gallons of gasoline. Mine had the injection removed so it was a pre-mix which meant I would drive it until the low fuel lignt came on; pull into a gas station and dump a quart of 2 cycle into it. As I added the gasoline I put my foot on the bumper and got it shaking to mix the oil and gas.

Performance was almost non existant and hills were attacked with as much speed built up as possible. Granted it was only a three cylinder with 750cc. It drank through 3 single barrel carbs. Terminal velocity on a good day was almost 75mph with a decent tailwind.

The four speed column shift transmission was equipped with Free Wheeling which meant that downhill it would coast as though it were in neutral.

I miss that little chick magnet; I sold it and its parts car in a major storage reshuffle. I see it in the local "old car" parade here in Hamilton.

So what is your motivation for the project?
